The manufacturer worked with the host city’s TETRA operator Stadtwerke München (SWM) to roll-out “tap proof” (ie, highly secure) handsets, as well as TB3c and TB3hp base stations.

According to the company, it is the first time that the TETRA system, which has been completely migrated to IP technology, will have been used at the event. The base stations were connected to the existing SWM network, specially for the benefit of the conference.

Speaking of the deployment, the event's chief operating officer Benedikt Franke said: “Airbus has supported us since 2012 with extremely reliable mobile radio services. We have therefore decided to extend our contract with the company until 2021 in order to ensure that we have the support we need for our annual conference in Munich.”

The Munich Security Conference is one of the key global events for the discussion of foreign affairs and security policy. Founded in 1963, 2020 marked its 56th iteration.
